17 June: Happy Birthday Paul Young

Paul_Young.jpg Not to be confused with the other Paul Young (Love of the Common People, Wherever I Lay My Hat), this Paul Young first came to prominence as singer with 1970s English rock band Sad Cafe.

Young later enjoyed success sharing vocal duties with Paul Carrack in Mike + The Mechanics, fronting such songs as All I Need Is a Miracle and Word of Mouth.

gino-vannelli.jpg Gino Vanelli was born in Montreal in 1952, the son of big band musician Russ Vanelli. Gino started playing percussion at an early age and by 15 was writing songs - he signed his first recording contract just out of high school.

Son of American Rock'n'Roll pioneer Johnny Burnette, Rocky Burnette was born in Memphis Tennessee in 1953.

Rocky followed in his father's footsteps, playing rowdy, high-energy rockabilly highlighted by his 1980 international hit single Tired of Toein' the Line.
