21 May: Happy Birthday Leo Sayer

Leo Sayer was born in England in 1948, and began his musical career co-writing songs for the likes of The Who's Roger Daltry.

He released his first single in 1973 and his next seven singles all reached the UK Top 10, including a UK #1 in 1977 with When I Need You.

Sayer moved to Australia in 2005 and became an Australian citizen in 2009.

Born John Robert Cocker in 1944, Joe Cocker's early musical influences came from Ray Charles and British singer songwriter Lonnie Donegan.

His big break came when he and "The Grease Band" were booked to play at the Woodstock Festival in 1969. Three months later he released hs second album "Joe Cocker!". That and the famous "Mad Dogs and Englishmen"

16 May: Happy Birthday Nicky Chinn

Nicholas Barry ‘Nicky’ Chinn (pictured – right -  with Mike Chapman) is part of one of the most successful songwriting partnerships in music.

Chinn and the Australian-born Chapman composed a string of hits in the 1970s and early 1980s for the likes of Suzi Quatro, Sweet, Racey, Smokie, Tina Turner and Huey Lewis.
