This will get you thinking - what does this have to do with late May 1976?

Wednesday's 20 20 Retro Countdown features the top 20 songs that were on the Aussie charts when the ownership of gold was legalised in Australia!

Maybe you can help out a little bit with your memories of the week when we were allowed to own gold... Were we previously limited in the amounts we could own?? Did it depend of the Karats? Why couldn't we own gold before late May 1976? We'll try and answer those questions when we roll through the countdown of the top 20 from this week in 1976!

Don't miss the hits of this week in 1990!

We promise that our countdown of the top 20 from late May 1990 wont be about nothing - even though we'll be celebrating the anniversary of the week when the show about nothing starting on tele.... On the calendar this week is the International Day Of The Family and International Visit A Relative Day... and after we celebrated Mother's Day on the weekend - it's a time of year that's all about families...

So that's the focus of the 20 20 Retro Countdown all this week!

I've created 5 family themed countdowns...

Sibling Revelry - Bands featuring sisters with other family members...

Fame In The Family - Artists and their famous relatives..

All In The Family Band Names - Groups named after a family member - Mamas And The Papas, The Babys.. etc.

Bands Of Brothers - Speaks for itself - the top 20 bands featuring Brothers.

Family Titles - Brothers, Sisters, Mum, Dad all in the titles of songs.

Plus - during the week - we'll countdown the top 25 favourite TV families... who will be at number 1?

Later on this week - I'll add that list to the 20 20 Website...

It's all about families this week on the 20 20 Retro Countdown!

TUESDAY

dollarcoin

We visit the week when treasuerer Paul Keating introduced us to the new $1 Coin. Maybe you still have an old $1 note around. It had been a long time coming - they first discussed scrapping the $1 note in the early 70's. On the charts - Kenny Loggins was at number 1 with a track from one of the biggest movies of the year. All that and more as we turn the clock back to early May 1984.

WEDNESDAY

 20 20 Bruce Willis 1987

Hard to believe he was the star of one of the biggest TV shows of the 80's. His film career and the action movies Die Hard has left "Moonlighting" as a distant memory.. but Bruce Willis won grammy's during the show's run and we'll remember those final episodes of "Moonlighting" when we visit mid May 1989. Musically, controversy was hindering the success of Madonn's latest hit! More on that and the top 20 from this week in 1989!

THURSDAY

menzies

We're turning the 20 20 Retro Countdown clock back to the week when we lost one of Australia's favourite Prime Ministers. Sir Robert Menzies died aged 83 on May 15 1978. We'll drag out some classic moments from Australia's longest serving Prime Minister. Then there's the top 20 from this week - no suprise it's packed with disco classics from the Bee Gees, John Paul Young, The Tramps and Earth Wind And Fire.
