it's a dream come true! 20 songs with dream in the title... How many can you name? There certainly are plenty... we probably could've done a "30 30"! Amongst the dream hits, we'll find out what dreams are and interpret the most common dream!.. And which song will make that dream run to number 1? 

 

 Tuesday - King Arthur, Merlin, Excalibur & The Top 20 From Mid-April 1981!

Yes, Excalibur was the hit movie of mid-April 1981... we'll hear the trailer amongst the top 20 from that week.. and we'll also celebrate the rise to fame of Weird Al Yankovic. At the top of the chart - we'll hear the story about how the singer thought she might land herself a prince with her  number 1 hit.

 

 Wednesday - The Biggest TV Show And The Biggest Hits Of This Week In 1990!

Do you remember when everyone was trying to solve the murder of Laura Palmer? We're heading back to Twin Peaks while we play the hits of mid-April 1990.  Thursday - We Got A New National Anthem & New Number 1 During This Week In '84!

One of our favourite countdowns - suggested to us via the website... the biggest hits featuring the harmonica. One thing that stands out in this countdown is the multiple appearnces by Stevie Wonder... with his own hit and guest appearances playing harmonica on other's people's hits.  Tuesday - Taking The "High" Road Back To 1986!

Yes, we're visiting mid-March 1986 when Highlander premiered. The iconic 80's movie starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery also featured actor Clancy Brown. He was the big bad guy! Well, here's a bit of useless trivia - he's also the voice of Mr Crabs on "Spongebob Squarepants". Anyway, back to the chart from this week in 1986 - that features a number of hits from movie soundtracks (setting us up for Friday's countdown) including the number 1 from "Jewel Of The Nile", The stars of the movie featured in the film clip for the chart topping hit.

 Wednesday - Cricket Shots And Chart Hits From 1977!

In this countdown, we'll remember one of the great celebrations of test match cricket - the Centernary Test, played in mid-March 1977. The match, played 100 years after the first test between Australia and England in Australia was remarkable for the result - more on that amongst the top 20.. with a number 1 from a group formed in Germany featuring members from Jamaica and Aruba. All that and more as we visit this week in 1977.

 Thursday - We'll Remember William Shatner's Return To Tele In 1982!

Do you remember the series "TJ Hooker"?.. the story of Sergeant Thomas Jefferson Hooker, the detective who returns to "the beat" to rid the streets of crime. And the beat goes on as we play the top 20 from mid-March 1982 - featuring an Aussie number 1 who were on the verge of big things in the US, until it all went wrong. Within days of the Oscars, the website received a number of requests for a countdown of the biggest movie soundtracks. We've done a number of "Movie Music" themed countdowns - but we're never dedicated a countdown to entire soundtracks... and there have been some memorable ones over the years. This countdown takes us back to the week when one of the all time classic TV variety shows "Hey Hey It's Saturday" was settling into a new time slot. It started in 1971 as a Saturday morning children's tv show. Then for 15 years it was the top rated Saturday night entertainment feast. There's that and the number 1 that didn't turn out the way the songwriters hoped on our trip back to early March 1984.

 Wednesday - Opening The Doors To 1991!

Yes, we're heading back to the week when Oliver's Stones' story of rock legend Jim Morrison premiered. We'll remember "The Doors' movie inside our countdown of the top 20 from this week in 1991... featuring a one hit wonder at number 1.

 

 Thursday - Back To When This Buddy Cop Movie Premiered!

Lethal Weapon, one of the great action movies of the 80's hit the cinemas during this week in 1987... and it gets a run amongst the hits of early March. Also, our number 1 is an interesting one. It comes from a singer who just seemed to pop up from nowhere... but he actually had quite a long music background. You can hear about it during our trip back to this week in 1987.

 Friday - Got A Great Feeling About This Countdown!

One of our favourite countdowns featuring hits with foreign lyrics...whether it be a few words, few lines or the whole song. There's a real mix in this countdown - German, French, Spanish - even Zulu lyrics... and our number 1 comes from a group who's lead singer only visited Australia for the first time in the last couple of years despite spending a number of weeks at number 1 in the mid 80's. That and more amongst the foreign lyrics hits.

 Tuesday - It's a Comedy Company inspired trip back to 1988!

It was in late February 1988 that one of the most iconic comedy shows of the 80's premiered on Australian TV...It's the Comedy Company with great characters like Kylie Mole, Con The Fruiterer, Russ The Postie, Uncle Arthur and my favourite - Col'n Carpenter. So we've got the top 20 from this week in 1988 featuring the number 1 that was written for a movie and had to adhere to very strict instructions. 

 Wednesday - A trip through space and time to play the hits of this week in 1981!

Remember Tom Baker.. arguably the greatest ever Dr Who. Well it was during this week in 1981 that Mr Baker hung up the hat and scarf after 7 years. That wasn't the only TV news from late Feb 1981... there was something new on Australian television... and a pint sized US TV star hit the big screen. All that and the number 1 from a New Zealand group who came and went in just 3 years.

 Thursday - Time to drag out the part decorations for the March B'day Countdown!

Yep, we'll play the top 20 music artists celebrating a birthday over the next month.. and thre's a few other celebraties on the way to our number 1 from a music legend who turns 71 in March. He recently announced his retirment from touring, but not before he does a 3 year farewell tour... If you haven't picked it, he'll be at the pinnacle of our March Birthdays countdown!
