During August - we've been paying tribute to the greatest ever covers..

I hope you caught our countdowns of the biggest covers of the 70's, 80's and 90's... but this time, I've handed you the reigns..

Thanks to your votes, we've compiled a list of the top 20 biggest covers as voted by you..

I can tell you - one of the covers that you voted for that wasn't in those countdowns - is the former Beatles song that these guys liked so much - they took out an ad in the paper..

And along the way - we'll play a few of the covers that you voted for that didn't make the list.. but they are the songs we sometimes forget are covers... like the song Jim Hendrix made his own - so much so - that the person who originally wrote and recorded it... started performing it like Hendrix!

We're turning back the 20 20 Retro Countdown clock to this week in 1985..

When we saw the first pictures of the final resting place of the Titanic,,,

 

Michael J Fox returned to the big screen - this time as a werewolf...

 

A new TV show aired on channel 7... a skit comedy series that featured many of the people who went on to be a part of "The Comedy Company" and "Fast Forward" - it was called "The Eleventh Hour"..

 

And there were a stack of hits from movie soundtracks in the top 20... In a few of those cases - including the number 1 - the singer of the hit starred in the movie... As we visit late August 1985!

In the next 20 20 Retro Countdown - we're heading back to the week that the first Australian designed and built submarine was launched.... the HMAS Collins..

It's late August 1993 - when this movie hit the big screen..

 

The new TV sensation for the kids was the MIghty Morphin Power Rangers... we saw kids all over the place dressed up like this...

 

And see if you can work out who held the number 1 spot during late August 1993.... they were a band formed in 1968 - who had to wait 20 years for their first hit... that was "Bad Boys"! - They backed it up by going to number 1 in the week we're remembering in the 20 20 Retro Countdown...

Late August in that year is our destinatioin in the 20 20 Retro Countdown..

The week when Australia were heading home with their tails between their legs after a disasterous Ashes series in England. We lost the series 3-nil.. And that Aussie team has been named in the top 2 worst XI's we've sent over there..

Enough about the '77 Ashes series... this'll put a smile on your face!

Also in our '77 edition of the 20 20 Retro Countdown... we'll remember the "Sinbad" movies.... this one hit the cinemas in late August!
