10 Songs You Forgot Were Brilliant

Saw this photo and loved it. It got me thinking about how easy it is to forget how brilliant some songs are.

So in no particular order, here's 10 songs that are worthy of another listen.

1 A Day In The Life - The Beatles

If I had to choose a favourite Beatles song this would be it. An absolute masterpiece

2 Message To My Girl - Split Enz

The most underrated love song ever recorded. Neil Finn is easily one of the greatest songwriters of our generation.

3 Let There Be Rock - AC/DC

I've gotta be honest, I'm not a huge AC/DC fan, but this has got to be one of the greatest rock songs ever recorded. There's enough power in it to fly a jet from Sydney to London

4 Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush

What a truly unique performer. This song made studying Emily Bronte's novel bearable at High School

5 Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers

Simple, emotive, and a brilliant strings section

6 (I'm) Stranded - The Saints

Raw, definitive and best of all, they were Brisbane blokes

7 Son Of A Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield

It's hard to believe this song is 47 years old, it sounds almost ageless. Thanks to Pulp Fiction for bringing it to the attention of a new generation in the 90's

8 Tiny Dancer - Elton John

Hard to pick just one of Elton's songs, but this one's hard to pass by. From such a simple start, to a beautifully layered finish.

9 Hurricane - Bob Dylan

I love a song with a great story and Dylan is one of the best story tellers ever.

10 Life On Mars - David Bowie

A creative genius that left us with so many gems. This one gets forgotten far too often
