In the next 20 20 Retro Countdown - we'll visit this week in 1981...

the week when you might have started your collection of Smurfs...

 

In the same week that the Smurfs turned up on our TV's.... this movie hit the cinemas in the US... after a successfull run in Australia cinemas that started in April..

 

And it was finals time in the AFL and NSWRL... two cracking grand finals were set up with Collingwood winning their way into the big one to take on the Blues...

 

 

And in the league... Newtown defeated Easts for the right to challenge Parramatta for the premiership...
