4 July: Bill Withers turns 76

American singer-songwriter Bill Withers became interested in music whilst serving nine years in the US Navy; when discharged he relocated to Los Angeles to pursue a musical career.

His debut 1971 album Just As I Am featured the hit Ain't No Sunshine - originally released as a B-side to the single Harlem. DJs preferred the B-side and Ain't No Sunshi
