Early 80's Compilation Albums

Each monday through June, we're playing the biggest hits from some of the biggest compilation albums of all time.. It all started with the best of the late 70's... this week we move on to the early 80's... did you have any of these...

1980 was a classic... Turning Japanese from the Vapors... Tired Of Toein' The Line - Rocky Burnette.. Cheap Wine - Cold Chisel... and remember Kim Hart's "Love At First Night"... what an album - and it's featured on the 20 20 Rero Countdown..

Yo might have owned over the top... how about this.. the old cassette cover... if you look closely, that cover contains the songs and artists... the likes of Icehouse - love in motion... Chemistry - Mondo Rock and PHd - I won't let you down... we're playing those hits from 1981 - Over the top on the 20 20 Retro Countdown!

Now, I had a copy of this one... I bought it specifically for America's hit "You Can Do Magic" - but maybe you bought it for Billy Idol's "Hot In The City" - or the first hit for Bananarama "Shy Boy"..

And then we move on to the compilation album that was top of the album charts for 5 weeks in 1983.. "Thru The Roof" really did sell through the roof.. with the biggest hits of the year from Michael Jackson, Elton John, Pat Wilson.. and the last track on the album was the biggest Aussie number 1 of all time... Australiana by Austen Tayshus was number 1 on the charts for 13 weeks.. no Australian single has ever come close.. and that certainly helped make "Thru The Roof 83" the biggest selling compilation album of the year..

They're the 4 compilation albums we'll feature on our early 80's celebration... on the 20 20 Retro Countdown!
