And I remember going to the movies to see this... be afraid - be very afraid!

Surely you remember Jacko.... He was in his last season of AFL - playing for Geelong... but the footy took a back seat to his TV commercials!

And we'll remember TV legend Ted Knight who died in August 1986 - he was best known for playing Ted Baxter on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"

We're celebrating the greatest covers of all time in August on the 20 20 Retro Countdown...

A week ago, you might have heard our 70's covers countdown - this time it's the 80's..
(the 90's are on the way - then in 2 weeks - the greatest covers as voted by you - so go to the retro countdown home page to vote)

Coming up in the 80's covers countdown - we'll play the Taco version of a song orginally recorded in the late 1920's... Interesting story - when Taco's version went top 10, the songwriter "Irving Berlin" became the oldest living writer of a song to have a hit on the charts - he was 95... here's the original version!

There's a few songs that you might not have known were covers... listen for the George Harrison hit that he originally bought in 1962... and here's the orginal of the song Cyndi Lauper is best known for...

And there's the hit Joan Jett first heard in 1976 - but couldn't convince her band the Runaways to record it... so she teamed up with a couple of members of the Sex Pistols in 1979 - and then had a number 1 with it in 1982 with her band the Blackhearts...
